2013 is the Year for Renewable Energy!
There is renewed interest in Renewable Energy and affordable, energy saving Green Housing construction. What seems to be driving the interest is the unstable roll-coaster ride with domestic utility rates, and fuel costs that effects the cost of consumer goods worldwide. One of the biggest and often most overlooked reason to switch to renewable energy systems is the ability to have more control over energy costs for your home. With smart and steady planning, a homeowner can begin an “energy reduction” plan that replaces outdated high energy appliances, heating systems, lighting systems and water heaters with more energy efficient systems that can save as much as 50% or more when compared to their conventional counterparts. Not to mention the savings and ownership benefits of having your own residential Solar, Wind or Hybrid Power System. How so you may ask? Take for example a very simple energy retrofit you can do which is less than $150 but will pay back savings year after year.

A typical household bulb is 40 Watts, by switching to LED Lighting, a comparable 5 Watt bulb will save you over 80% in energy expenses. Surprisingly, you will also save by switching from CFL's to LED as well. A comparable CFL bulb of 14Watts can be replaced by a Solid State 5 Watt LED Bulb  and save over 60%. The cost of LED Lighting has dropped so dramatically in the past year that you'll see quality LED Lighting using “SMD Technology”  under $8/Bulb.  At this rate, you can change you home lighting system to LED and save for years to come.  - The trend to switch to LED Solid State Lighting (SSL)  is not a fade. Why? The answer is simple: because of SSL's rapid ongoing improvements and superior energy-saving potential. It is estimated that switching to LED lighting over the next two decades could save the USA $120 billion in energy costs over that period, reduce the electricity consumption for lighting by one-fourth, and avoid 246 million metric tons of carbon emission.  DOE is not alone in recognizing the importance of that kind of savings; The United States Congress recognizes it too, which is why the Energy Policy Act has  mandated  the US Department of Energy (DOE) to accelerate SSL
technology. The future is looking bright with Solar technology!
